Abstract

Moringa leaves are recognized for their high nutritional value and potential use in health and beauty products. Due to their moisturizing, antioxidant, and anti-aging benefits, moringa leaf extract is widely incorporated into skincare formulations. Ceramide Complex plays a key role in strengthening the skin barrier by retaining moisture and preventing dryness. This study aimed to examine the impact of different concentrations of moringa leaf extract on cream formulation characteristics and to assess its moisturizing effectiveness. The methodology involved maceration extraction of moringa leaves, phytochemical screening, cream formulation, and evaluation of its physical attributes. Results indicated that the maceration method successfully extracted 18.6% yield from moringa leaves, which were found to contain alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, and steroids. The extract was effectively incorporated into cream formulations, with 3% extract concentration showing optimal moisturizing effects. The final cream passed several evaluation tests, including organoleptic assessment, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, spreadability, adhesion, cycling stability, moisturizing efficacy, irritation testing, and user preference.
